Not even a case of hindsight but it's easy to criticise the fire brigades actions when you don't have an in depth knowledge of the tactics used when a fire is so big.

The fire brigade bosses also have a duty to protect their staff so whilst the decision making may on the face of things look poor I'm sure the best decisions were made at the time to try and save as many people as possible.

Benoit picked up on a point I was going to make that it's all good criticising them for saying stay where you are, but what if they told everyone to get down the stairs and people started collapsing because of the smoke and couldn't see where they were going? Then the exits are blocked up for anyone who could be saved.

I think the biggest thing is the cladding that needs to be criticised. There's no excuse for failing to install fireproof cladding, christ in our industry we'd get hammered if any sort of fabric set piece etc wasn't proofed so why are entire buildings allowed to have non fire proofed material?

I think it's very harsh to have a go at the fire service without having an inside knowledge of why they made the decisions they did. You can sit and analyse everything for days on here but did they have that amount of time to make a decision when there was a massive flaming building in front of them?

Folk that talk about "pay cuts" because they don't get inflation every year.

I'd imagine very few folk do at all.

Hard to comment on other stuff without knowing what is being proposed to the anti social/sickness payments.

As for the increments not happening if they are on performance or disciplinary procedures - good. Got increments at my work and every year lazy fuckers get a pay rise the same as those actually doing their job. If its linked to KPI's then argue for realistic KPI's and not to get an increment even if you accidentally killed a few folk.

Generally the NHS and a few other industries are still run by the scam which are unions when it comes to T&C's.
