Just thinking back on all this. There was a point in the 1st half where the Motherwell subs and trainer were warming up in front of the Motherwell fans. When they were heading back to the dugouts the trainer was staring at someone down from us. He got dogs abuse.
I wonder if he was staring because of something he heard. The abuse he got was because he was staring. Is this the 10-20 fans they reckon were racially abusing the player?
Aye. Row 7. The 1st guy arrested is about row 4 although he was brought down from the concourse. About 5 or 6 guys left about half 4ish and 1 was grabbed as he left.

If confronted with a group, can stewards act though? Isn't it more a question of the police doing their job, as they appear to have done yesterday?

It's not a job I'd want but they are getting paid a wage to sort this type of thing out. It's a handful of people, if a player can hear it then you can guarantee a steward has heard it.
The police do very little tbh. You will never see them in the actual stand, they stand at the bottom and do nowt.
I saw that wee tit Keiran Tant or whatever his name is walking about N yesterday, how exactly is that happening? He's about 4 foot nowt as well. Wanker.

He was a couple of rows down from me. It was that group who left around half 4ish.

Stunned to hear he was involved
So are Hearts bothered or not? We'll no doubt get another lecture this week (99% of decent folk getting talked down to like wee school kids) but they can't even keep this rodent out of the ground?
The stewards are useless. You can argue that they should do something because yes it is their job, but I'd say at least 90% of stewards should never actually be employed in that role, as they're clearly not capable of taking appropriate action.
Some sections of our support though
There's definitely an issue with it at the club. Don't know what the age of the guys were who were doing it yesterday, but there's a group of older guys who sit near me and while they're not shouting racist stuff directly at players, there's so much racist chat amongst them, not just about opposition players either.

Sack them then.
If anyone on here goes into work tomorrow and doesn't do their job they will be in trouble. I feel for them as it is not a good job but this problem needs nipped in the bud asap.

What exactly is it you think they get paid their wage to sort out? Wading into sort out racist chanting for £6.50 an hour. I don't think so
A stern warning is about all they are permitted to do - that aside they are probably feeding information back to the control room who in turn will pass it to the police who will risk assess and make a decision - on this occasion it was arrests.
Given the level of police at games is dropping (mainly due to cost) they will carry out most action retrospectively using footage taken and reports from Stewards/staff/fans grassing etc.

Everyone at Hearts is on living wage.
Not that the money you are paid should stop you from doing the one thing you are employed to do.

Totally agree. I actually don't blame them. I imagine most of them are doing the job because it's the only option available to them.
The blame lies at G4S's door for not paying a high enough wage to make the job attractive to the sorts actually interested/capable of dealing with the problem.
