I got a pre-built one from overclockers.co.uk, which was/is great, but in future I think I'll buy individual components and pay someone to put it together for me.
Why not just do it yourself?

It's really not that difficult with the amount of tutorials online and means you can upgrade gfx cards etc easily once you've learned how to do it.

Those sites that build "custom built" computers are a bit of a rip off.

I've been using pc part picker to draw up an initial list of stuff; will check out the rest of the recommendations tonight. Looking like I'll be spending £500-700 on this puppy, so the more research the better.

Will be building it myself as well - two of my flatmates have built theirs themselves, so I'll have experience on hand.

You could do it over a weekend.

It's not like he's not sitting on his arse posting on here all the time Laugh

Just checked that overclockers and they're charging about 900 for a pc you can build for about 5/600 if you buy the individual parts.

Think a lot of people (not meaning acey) see the big back lit led towers and automatically think the pc is decent and fork out. Not realising what's inside is pish.

I think you're underestimating how much of a ham-fisted boob I am when it comes to doing anything involving manual dexterity. Warnock

It's pretty simple man, take component A plug it into component B type stuff.

That ovetclockers.com is a bit of a rip off imo but I suppose money isn't a problem for hot shot lawyers Cool

What spec did you go for?

I installed an extra hard drive (had to buy a new cable for it and everything) and almost wet myself with the stress of it all. Warnock

Intel® Core™ i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
HIS AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB

That's the processor and graphics card I have; not sure how interested you'd be in the rest. Laugh Startup files are on a SSD which makes a big difference. Bought it in January 2013.

You should be able to run most games of that decent no?

I have a 1TB SSD but it's a "hybrid HD" It's a load of fucking shite my laptop takes an age to load.  Can't wait until I have the space to get my desktop back.

I'd swap your AMD for Nvidia tho. Intel Nvidia combo <3

Us backwards, Xbox 360 skrublords have never had it so good - I picked up Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider and Just Cause 2 in a triple pack in Morrison's the other day for less than 15 quid. Decent deal. Loads of games at a fiver as well.

You'd probably need to spend like 40 quid for the connector to plug in the back for wireless

It is worth it but if you've done so long without it...

Yeah that's the one - I take it the newer ones don't need that?

I could never be arsed spending that kind of money to get horsed at FIFA off wee spotty wanks from Nevada, so just left it. That's probably why half my games are bugged to fuck, eh? Warnock
