Batter only for me, bud.
my old man wouldn't even have the breaded stuff; place in a frying pan, add milk and a nob of butter. he'd drink the juice too and/or soak it up with a bit of bread. tbf, I always enjoyed it that way with boiled tatties and frozen peas. Sounds utterly shite but I miss stuff like that tbqh.

Tripe and Potted meat were delicacys for my dad
Thankfully that sort of stuff stopped with their parents; my gran used to make it often, manky stuff, well the smell anyway. Always passed when offered. You're alright granny, I'll get a pie from the bakery round the corner.
Cannae beat a nice crispy battered fish from the chippy.
Not had a fish supper in ages though, i think it's because that's all you're getting, nice fish and a pile of meh chips.
I used to order a shish kebab and a single fish on the side when i stayed in Edinburgh.
I tend to order a bit late these days and the chippies round here are a hit or a miss, so wouldn't order fish at 10pm.
Special fish aka breaded...
You're better off getting fresh angel cut haddock from the morrisons fish counter and getting the guy to bread it.
I've tried fish vans and morrisons is still better and cheaper.

Only one I know in Livingston itself is the Minerva, in Howden; no idea what the fish are like there mind. Can't really go wrong with a fish out the chippie though, for the most part.
For my tea the night I had doritos with Asda's four dips, and seven dumplings from the Starlight chinese supermarket on Clerk St. and a tunnocks wafer for dessert. getting hungruy again.
