The lions tour and the Ryder cup are the two premier sporting events in my view. In what way is it any more or less pointless than any other sporting event?
A team assembled every 4 years to play a couple of test matches. Fair enough if it was for the Olympics or something, but there is nothing on the line.
I'm not saying its shite (although I can't be bothered with it), but I don't see why it is deemed a massive deal.

I wouldn't have them as my top two sporting events like but they're pretty comparable in the way Hank describes them. Both of them are one-off teams put together who aren't competing for any tournament beyond the games happening there and then, but they're both among the pinnacle of sport
At least there's a trophy with the Ryder Cup, and a bit more of a structure. Europe lose the Ryder Cup? No worries, we'll get our chance for revenge in 2 years time. Lions lose to South Africa? Aye, see you again in 12 years - we need to go to New Zealand and Australia first

Poorly worded on my part. It's quite obviously not in the top two biggest sporting events. I really just meant I love the history and the rareness of it. I used to think similarly of the fitba World Cup before football collapsed.
I'm not privately educated as I'm sure my poorly structured posts will testify to. When you leave the Henry's and Farquar's of Edinburgh and head to Rural Scotland most kids played rugby in my experience posh or not.
How can you not like the lions tour. It's fucking epic.
Rugby is just gash, I mean you can tolerate it when it's the 6 nations and the jocks are playing the aul enemy and all that even though it's far too friendly for my liking but the Lions tour, all I think of is shite kits with stupid collars tbh. Absalut nothing event and absolutely a load of shite.

The good men and woman of TalkHearts have made the right call not to be interested - these have been some of the least entertaining games of rugby I've ever seen.
“Smash into each other and hope for a penalty†rugby at its worst.
