It won't be Hearts that get turned down, it will be the absolute shit show of a board, We've signed absolutely nobody of note since they came in, even Stendel took about 3 months while Ann hummed and hawd.
The place reeks of clueless power tripping snobs.

Who knows what's true. But speculation has suggested.
McKinlay didn't want Naismith and was pressured into appointing him. He then was pressured by Naismith into extending all their deals. He was then pressured by fans to sack them all. No doubt expensively. He's now being pressured to find a speedy and accepted replacement but that pressure online at least does not back Crotchley. And we're now into Tuesday when speculation was last Saturday. Is he delaying to think again or regroup? It's all hearsay but if true it paints him as a man who sways in the direction of the wind. One thing is sure. If he appoints a disaster. It's curtains for him as much as any new manager. Our turnover is a record high. We should have targeted an ambitious level of affordable manager. Had feelers out months ago. And moved swiftly to conclude. In reality we probably started the day after sacking Naismith and attributed very little budget to the whole thing. Which is why we're scrambling in tne bargain bucket. Aberdeen. St Johnstone. Kilmarnock. Motherwell. St Mirren. All seem capable of managing this process. Our Board is not fit for this club and never has been under Budge. For all the non football PR surrounding us. Here we are. Bottom of the league. Critchley. No saleable assets. A poor academy. Fox leading us in Europe. Our Board should be under more scrutiny than the team now.

Appointing Naismith in the first place and that whole coaching badges debacle was proof to me that there is or was a serious naivety, at best, in the club when it comes to appointing managers and coaching staff for the first team. Fair enough it somehow (Shankland, literally just Shankland) worked for a season but there was clearly no recruitment process, no real desire to look externally at viable options that could come in and improve us, offer something different. It's always just safe and samey. If Fox had beat St Mirren and Aberdeen you can bet they'd have wanted to keep him in the role. Stendel was the one outlier and they couldn't get Robbie back quick enough when that went south, it always felt like they had a nosebleed appointing an outsider.
Critchley was obviously second choice, it doesn't seem like an inspired appointment, but we are where we are I don't think it'll change. I feel like the reaction while understandable has been a wee bit OTT, as most things are nowadays. If he comes in and beats St Mirren that'll buy him some goodwill up to the derby and well we'll just see how that goes. He's coming in under enormous pressure really.

Just before Budge we had a run of Laszlo, Jefferies and Paulo as managers.
Under Budge we've had Neilson, Cathro, Levein, Stendel, Neilson, Naismith and McAvoy now Critchley. Other than Lockie in between we basically went from three back to back managers pre Budge that were loved and still are. To a dynasty of managers under Budge where none will be remembered fondly. Not one. And it continues.

From kickback:
“I was sent a what’s app yesterday which suggests that Graham Jones and Critchley are quite pally having known each other through various coaching and FA schemes. I have no idea as to of the validity of that, it was in a large what’s app group . However if true the optics of that are utterly terrible. I suspect if that was true it will tip a few over the edge.” Jonesy putting 10 million and the future of Bloom analytics at risk. What a fool he is if true. I know it’s just a rumour but Jonesy and Critchley seem like two peas in a pod. It’s no surprise Jonesy loved him at interview. Jonesy needs to understand what Hearts is really about and quick. If it comes out that Jonesy has even been in the same room as him prior to interview, Jonesy has questions to answer big time

It has been confirmed he scored highly in the analytics. How he got there is pretty irrelevant.
Take a deep breath and see how this thing plays out. This is how it is at Hearts for the foreseeable so you may as well get on board. We’ve went for a guy with a reputation for developing players. We are now recruiting for undervalued players we can develop and sell on for good money so we can level up. That’s the game now.

On Hearts Standard last night they were saying it took Critchley a run of games to get going in his first Blackpool stint. Lucky we have plenty breathing room

Scott’s ‘Jonesy’ conspiracy theories
![]() Critchley looks underwhelming but he’s exactly the profile you’d expect Bloom to appoint. Same background to basically every appointment they’ve made at Brighton since 2009 with the one exception of De Zerbi who didn’t work out and hated the data setup. Realistically it was always more likely to be a guy known for his youth coaching than an ex-player who went straight into the number 1 seat.

We will hold our own opinions until there is any evidence otherwise. You have to be willingly blind to not think Derek McInness would piss all over this guy from a great height. You think lewis Ferguson would’ve swapped Mcinnes for Neil Critchley? Mcinness made Lewis Ferguson a man, he isn’t some youth coach. If he fails then we will take Mckinlay with him. If he is a failure the fans need to make sure he fails hard and quickly Critchley needs to be aware we will tear him apart if he doesn’t immediately get results

He'll get a minimum of two windows to work with the players we are provided. It might well be a bottom 6 season but we'll see how he gets on. All depends if he can get a tune out of these imposters until the new guys start coming in.

Don't worry, as I said previously the team has already turned a corner and is on the up. Critchley will likely get the credit but like most teams it's the players that determine results. We have the players, well enough of them, and now that disabled list is drying up. They didnt want to put that extra in for Naismith. As long as they get themselves our of the danger zone, as far as thry can in the ECL, and step it up for the cup I'm fine with them getting Critchley the bullet down the line.
