Challenging for the league is by the by the now, if he can cement us in third, put distance between us and the rest and win a trophy in the next 3/4 year then happy days.

Rangers getting that American investment and Celtic sitting on a pile of gold makes it ridic hard to ever seriously topple them so I’ll not get too carried away there.

Interesting that he sees winning the Scottish league as having less obstacles than the Belgian league.

Did he say why that is?

I find that very hard to believe unless the entirety of Belgian football is set up to benefit the top 2 teams Laugh

I think it was more the gap between where USG were  and the Top 2 when he invested in comparison to where we currently are and have been recently.

The financial gap between USG and Brugge is (or was anyway) similar to the gap between us and Celtic but they were starting from a far worse position.

They have probably analysed Celtic and Rangers and come to the conclusion they are a bit shit and there to be got at. There's no way he would have came with that energy tonight if he wasn't absolutely certain this will work. JTA depends on his reputation.

We're USG not in the second division when he bought in as well?

They've also got some weird set up in Belgium where their points get halved for after their version of the split, or something like that.

Brugge haven’t been entrenched in the top for anywhere near as long as Celtic have though.

I don’t think there’s many leagues in Europe where a team will be going for 10 league titles in a row. I’m 100% behind his ambition but I’m not sure it is an easier task than Belgium, I think this will be the biggest challenge he’s faced.

Again don’t know a lot about Belgian football but everything here is set up to benefit 2 teams, I just can’t see it being an easier task than getting USG a league title. Other clubs have broken Brugge without JA, no one has broken the OF since the 80s.

I would think Scotland would be the hardest to crack with everything that goes with it.

If we do start to really threaten the glesga lot then watch them start to join forces to do everything in their power to knock it on it's head.

Forgetting about inflation, in terms of total squad market value, Hearts (€17.47m) are roughly where RUSG (€16.4m) were in 18/19.

RUSG squad value has been €54m (21/22), €71m (22/23), €111m (23/24), €131m (24/25), €85.75 (25/26).

RUSG have made a total transfer profit of ~€90m since 18/19.

If you look at RUSG between 18-21, they were making market trades like hearts are making now (eg frees and <€500k). Now they are regularly trading in the €ms.

Here’s some of the players they’ve sold for over €10m:

  1. Ivanovic to Benfica for €22.8m in 25/26 (orig bought for €4m)
  2. Sadiki to Sunderland (lol) for €17m in 25/26 (orig bought for €0.9m)
  3. Amoura to Wolfsburg for €14.75m in 25/26 (orig bought for €4.0m)
  4. Puertas to Al-Qadsiah for €15.30m in 24/25 (orig bought for €1.16m)
  5. Boniface to Leverkusen for €22.6m in 23/24 (orig bought for €6.1m)

They did all this and won the title last season, and being a point an away to two seasons before that. They’ve also bagged a couple of cups.

Is it really that unrealistic to assume we will match squad valuations with Celtic and Rangers (€120m) within next 5 years (7x increase)?

This is happening.

We've heard managers and folk like Joe Savage say this stuff in the past but none of them have the track record of actually doing it like Bloom has. Firmly on board.

And it’s always been wishy washy shite about a next level and closing gaps.

Bloom came right out and said there’s no more 2 horse races and we’re in every competition to win it Laugh
