I also don’t think it’s a coincidence you can draw a fairly clear line between Devlin playing and us having better performances this season. He may be limited as a footballer but he is important for our system under Del.

The way I think of it is that Cammy Devlin is a key player in our current system, but ideally we'd find a system which wouldn't make Cammy Devlin a key player.

I'm slightly on the fence with him tbh. Most of the great sides in Scotland, Hearts or otherwise, have had that terrier type player in midfield, and for us Devlin is currently filling that role, but we could also aim for someone of a similar type who can make a basic ten-yard pass.

I like Devlin, you can pick faults in everyone but he seems to get more than he deserves from some people in my opinion, been very good for us in his time here and pretty much always available apart from the injury he got this season in what was probably his best season for us.

Devlin will get better with better players around him, I’d be keeping him.

He should be so effective home and away at just winning the ball back as fast as possible, not trying to play the deep lying playmaker.

I think in a team that was challenging for the league every year, he wouldn't be a starter every game but he is extremely good at the things he does well. I think on our budget, you'd struggle to get a guy that performs as well at all the defensive metrics and can really play.

Leonard a really good player but supposed to be on £20K per week.

Spending big money on Leonard would've been insane even before he was crocked.

Devlin rejected contract offers from us multiple times. He leaves Hearts for nothing. Clever how he’s done it. Kept a few of you onside too.

I didn't think there would be cash given the contract situation, but a classic EEN clickbait headline had me wondering for a second.

He had a phenomenal first 6 months of the season. The rest of his Hearts career has been a tough watch. It's a shame he never got to work with Del earlier as he seemed to get something extra out of him.

Devlin shaggers are going to get some shock when we have midfielders who can do more than tackle and intercept.

On a similar note, I saw this graphic about forward passing midfielders earlier. That is a disgrace from Beni man Makes the Dylan Tait rumours a bit more interesting.

Have never really got on board with the Beni love in tbh. Lots of ‘oh if he wasn’t so injury prone he would never be playing for us’ chat over the years. Nah, Hearts will be the pinnacle of his career because he can’t pass forwards and he turns like an ice cream van.

Cammy is Don Cowie with a colonial accent. Absolute pull the wool over fans eyes. When we get a real midfielder that can do more than 1 thing, we will forget about him. Gomis, Palazuelos, Karapidis all better, I could do go on for days here, Pallardo, Haring et all

There's a gaping chasm between choking to get rid of him and acknowledging that he did us a turn and would be a more than capable squad player going forward. 

I don't think I've seen anyone on here actually overselling his ability at any point either. 

I'm happy to move on from him assuming we get an adequate replacement, sounds like we're going to be awash with players who apparently can play every role in the middle of the park all at once.
