Maybe not effecting your judgement but it's quite concerning that when the lassie is tidy the whole case is treated as a bit of a joke and the wee laddie is an idiot for grassing, but when she looks like that it's suddenly a different story.  

Should be pushing for these nonces to be treated the exact same as a guy in the same situation, regardless of whether they're a pinilla or not.

No, it's because she fucked an 11 year old. When it's a female teacher and it's tidy it's just a more understandable situation. Unfortunately none of the male teachers that pump their students look like Tom Hardy so it's hard to make a social comparison.

It might well be arbitrary to base it on ages but to me an 11 year old "victim" (not sure I agree that's always the right word, but for want of a better one it'll do) is less creepy than, say, 14 or 15.

As Morph says, it's the maturity differential that makes it abhorrent. 15 is still a child and that makes taking advantage of a trusted position over them appalling; just a bit less so than an 11 year old. Making that analogous to 15 year olds who are sexually active with one another is a bit of a non sequitur.

Agreed on that, no doubt. I guess I just don't find it as morally reprehensible as some people when you hear about these stories of teachers with 15 year old students regardless of gender. I accept it's a crime and a breach of trust but I don't think it's totally abhorrent and think the media blows these stories up due to the underlying perversions of our society.

In cases of teachers/lecturers with students over 16 I don't think it's much of an issue outwith conflict of interest and don't consider it newsworthy in the slightest.

As the "victim" gets younger and further away from legal age of consent the more disturbing the crime is, generally speaking in what appear to be consentual relationships.

This is quite clearly the case and anyone who tries to say there isn't a vast difference between 11 and 15 has a case of "the lady doth protest too much", imo.

Last bit I definitely agree with, but we'll have to disagree on our view of offences with older children. My opinion is probably partly down to being a bit older than you and partly down to the fact I work with children of those ages, which both make me less tolerant of those who take advantage of their position of trust. I used to have a wee joke about Rix with the songs ("she looked 18" etc) in the past, but my perspective has changed a lot since I became a teacher. Still just kids.
