I love how Lawson views himself like Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society when in fact he's been mugged off by a lassie who knows she's smart enough to get the grades she needs with the minimal effort.

1. She was working damn hard. I'm not exaggerating about her workload at all.

2. Life isn't so much about working hard as working smart.

As for the whole Robin Williams thing - - the benefit of my style of teaching is that when a student's in trouble, they'll tell me. A lot of teachers miss the most awful things going on in the lives of their students because they're just too strict. Think about that next time you read about some appalling case in which no-one intervened until it was too late.

I was watching a bit of that Russell Howard show last night (I know) and they were discussing the Tories bringing in testing for 7 year olds. They had an interview with this wee kid who was all serious and telling the interviewer that he's realised life is no joke ridiculous.
