The jihadist group Islamic State (IS) claims there were no casualties as a result of the air strikes by the French military on its stronghold of Raqqa in Syria on Sunday. A statement says 30 strikes targeted "empty locations" around the city.

The French authorities said the air strikes destroyed an IS training camp and a munitions dump. The anti-IS activist group, Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently, said earlier that there were no reports of any casualties.

ISIS make more effective use of social media than any terrorist group ever previously seen. Having Anonymous on the case can help stop that. I'd have thought they'd be able to uncover the identities of many of ISIS' chief propagandists too.

No-one's saying "Anonymous are going to win the war!" It's just another small element of it.

Looked into this myself and as much as I think the way the present themselves as some sort of force is utterly laughable, apparently they're doing a fair bit. IS are using social media a lot to get their propaganda out there and to attempt to convert people to their cause. Anonymous are actively finding these accounts and shutting them down. Better than nothing.

What do they actually do though? I've heard them make a lot of bold statements about what they're going to do and in the end they hack a twitter account, which pops up under a new name within about 15 minutes.

The whole thing is just a joke man. Making statements with their wee boy in the mask and the daft voice. If they want to go about it why don't they just do it, instead of making a huge big thing about themselves. Just strikes me as a "look at me" thing.
