Is your question about whether it was called Spit/Fire or Spitfire?

Yep, this is exactly what I was waiting for him to say.

It happens so often now, people screaming on social media about how disgraceful the Picture House/Wetherspoons thing is - yet hadn't bothered to go to the PH for months and support it.

I was arguing this with a bunch of folk, everyone saying how shocking it was that it was getting turned into a spoons but how often did they go there? Pretty sure someone started a petition to the council requesting/demanding that they blocked the purchase. It wasn't even like there were any serious offers from businesses to keep it running as a music venue.

Edinburgh has been shite for live music for as long as I can remember.

What's with all the hostility? I don't drink often and even less in town. I liked the place though. Was quite cool.

At 29 it would be a bit pathetic to wasting every weekend drinking up the town instead of doing something productive.

Much better to watch reality TV.  Sound

Just people who are desperate for everyone to think they are cultured. It's quite simple really, if you like a venue, go there and support it. Don't start moaning when it goes down the pan.

I'd liked the Picture House to have stayed open (especially over another Spoons) but there clearly isn't enough appetite for live music venues in Edinburgh anymore. PH gone, Liquid Rooms on it's arse, Corn Exchange barely doing any gigs anymore. People can sit on here and social media and moan about them all closing but in reality they are the problem.

Maybe not every weekend, but once in the last 6 months like I said wouldn't have been asking much for a bar you are "gutted" to see close Monty Oh Well

It's a shame culture has to turn a profit to be viable.

Aye, agreed. I went to some beasting nights at the Liquid Rooms only a few years ago. Last one I went to was Green Velvet, which was just around the time all the bellends started getting into techno and ket, place was hundreds over capacity because they did that dodgy thing with the annex that nobody was in.

Don't even think they book anyone big now, haven't heard of any in a while at least. Wouldn't go back for that reason though, £20 ticket, £10 pill and you can't even move.

Playing devils advocate a bit - by that logic you shouldn't be able to comment/care about Hearts unless you go every single week and pump money into the club?

I think if people went to the picture house (for example) once in a while they are entitled to a wee moan about it closing.

It's a general point, more relating to the picture house conversation developing.

Some people liked going to the picturehouse for gigs. Obviously not enough through the door for it to survive under current market conditions. Maybe easy access to live music has more value to a city than economic value?

I think you just made the exact same point as everyone else Monty Oh Well nobody said you need to go every week. Likewise you would get pissed off if someone was trying to tell you about how much they love hearts and hadn't bothered to go for 6 months.
