If we were independent this is the sort of model I would be looking for us to adopt.

They are making it up as they go along though - so in answer to your question, it is a desperate act in a response to polls not showing them what they wanted to show. I would think they'll have to get it approved at their spring conference though which will not be easy.

Would this not please both sides? Retain sovereignty and keep access to single market? Seems like a win win if it was possible. As an aside I see their target of growing EU exports is going to fall well short, unless they have 23% growth in the next two years.

Seems like the YouGov poll article you posted was spot on, VS.

The Norway model seems like the best way forward to me.

It may please both sides - hard to say. Being in the EEA means you have no say in the rules you have to operate under. The EU makes the rules (which you are not part of) and then you have to adopt them.

id prefer it if we were as an independent nation as far out of Europe as possible. A Norway model is probably the least restrictive.

What's the chances of the nightmare May is having with her Trump friendship ending up with a general election?

It's emerged she knew about the muslim ban while at the white house Monty Ooh

Why would she make comment on a domestic American policy if she knew about it?

Other than hyperbole on the internet I doubt May has been hurt in the slightest by any of what the US does.

She missed a trick though, if she had spat in his face she's have probably been voted in for the next 20 years

She knew about it in Washington but still did not have a view when questioned 3 times in Turkey? She's invited the guy here on a state visit. This along with her avoidance on the NHS issue and the trident issue is resulting in a lot of growing anger towards what is an unelected PM.

Not so sure. The Trump friendship could be terrible for her. Thousands protesting all over Britain last night. Will be interesting to see her latest approval ratings.

You say this often, you do know that's now how our system works?

I'd say the reason she's not got a view is because her team were unable to come up with a succinct position where they can state they don't like the order but make it clear it is a matter of domestic policy and not their place to be critical. That and saying nothing and drawing the criticism for doing so is probably easier than giving a definitive answer either way.

Yes I am well aware of the literal way it works.

In the real world though if May continues down this road and she becomes more unpopular sooner or later she's going to need a democratic mandate from a GE. People are angry.
