The Tories won quite a big mandate just a year before she became PM, I might be seeing things differently to you but I don't think there's any appetite for a GE in the country right now and I don't see Labour out there demanding one because they know how they'll perform.

I'd say her mandate is good.

Tories would smash Labour in another GE thanks to Corbyn.

In the real world though if May continues down this road and she becomes more unpopular sooner or later she's going to need a democratic mandate from a GE. People are angry.

People are always angry about something. May Bee She'll survive this without breaking a sweat. If anything, proximity to Trump probably enhances her image as a statesperson.

The tories would walk another GE.

I don't see people as angry right now.

The anger has been replaced with a punchdrunk, confused trance.

So so much has changed since the 2015 GE though. It's pretty clear what AP is getting at. May is navigating our ship through extremely stormy weather. I, along with many others, aren't very confident of her stewardship. Whilst technically we vote for a party in the GE, we also look at who's to be leading the country. If Corbyn can polarise the Labour party, May can polarise the country. Just accepting anyone who walks into the top job just because of the party you support is exactly the reason folk like Trump can get into power. Whilst most may have disagreed with Cameron's policies, he was still a relatively strong politician that you'd bank on representing the country at least with a little bit of confidence. This imposter May is an empty suit. She's there by default, is clearly out of her depth, and is making decisions that will affect the country for decades to come.

You're right in that there might not be an appetite for a GE, I mean, who'd beat the tories at this point anyway? But that doesn't mean everyone is content with our current PM and how she got to be in that position.

There's no appetite for another General Election precisely because we all know the Tories would win again.

As soon as a credible opposition gets their ducks in a row, the calls for a GE will be strong.

What's Mays approval rating like? I fucking despise the odious witch so my bias is probably coming into play here. Are we just stuck with her until 2020?

A GE could wipe out a tory majority for me and cast doubts over Mays leadership within her party. I'm not even bothered about Labour. It is just that May is so blatantly out of her depth it is dangerous for the country. We need a strong leader more than ever. The way she lies to the British public and dodges major issues absolutely sickens me.

Leader satisfaction ratings are dropping and this was before the Trump disaster.

That's really quite telling. 38% of folk shrugging their shoulders, and rightly so when those 2 are your choices.

Got to be tough being none-tory in England. You know your vote isn't going to count for much, and you had no input into the leadership selection. Basically just got to sit and take that big blue fist up your arse.

All those lefty spastics keeping JC in charge of Labour are the ones to blame. They think being a protest party is more important than actually winning an election. Time for the Libs Dems to step things up.

I agree with a lot of what corbyn says - it's not his ideology that's the problem - it's his execution of role as leader of labour party.

If he isn't going to hold the government to account then he can fuck off.

It is a letter to The Times from former head of foreign office, Lord Ricketts. Truly mind blowing that he has been afforded this privilege with all that is going on. Absolute joke from May and for what? A shan wee press conference in Washington kidding on we are in any way relevant.
