Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

10/10

One of the best movies I've watched in years, black comedy with a stellar cast including Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Peter Dinklage, Clarke Peters, and Samara Weaving who when I was watching it o was convinced it was Margot Robbie.

For fans of Fargo/Killer Joe/Choke/Cohen brothers

Watched Bright last night, like Morph says the racism parable was pretty blatant but I think it was supposed to be and they didn't rip the arse out of it.

Felt the film could've been a little tighter towards the end and I'd have like to have seen them go about the story in a slightly different way but overall I thought it was a decent watch and visually it was very good.

I'd give it a 7.5/10, probably won't watch again but would say it's worth seeing. Yet another film where the critical and audience ratings couldn't be further apart, I think they've badly misjudged this one and they're only damaging their own reputation by trying to rationalise these differences as being the audiences fault.

Watched Bright also. Thought it was terrible tbh. Never liked lord of the rings or any of that shite so this really didn't appeal.

I think it's maybe got bad reviews because the critics have assumed its trying to seriously tackle the topic of police brutality/institutional racism.

It's not an Oscar worthy film and it's not going to force you to think differently but as an action cop movie I thought it was quite good.

Watched Hacksaw Ridge on Netflix. Thought it was very good although the battle scene was a bit long.

8.5/10

Hacksaw Ridge is class, although I'm not sure anyone reloads in the entire film. Warnock

Wind River - 8/10 probably nearer a 7 but for the past 2-3 months I've watched a lot of dross(barring Three Billboards in Ebbing, Missouri.) and this was decent, Jeremy Renner plays a wildlife officer who assists an FBI agent investigating the death of a teenage girl on an Native American reservation, for some reason it made me wonder if this is what it's like in pondlifes neck of the woods Eek

The Vault - 5/10 James Franco stars in this poorly executed heist/horror movie.

It's on Netflix

The Hateful Eight (2015) 7.5/10

Watched this again, and now probably see it as his best to date. Some scenes are up there with the best in movies (including the opening one), however he hasn't quite managed to continue that level right through or I'd have given it a higher score.

Hateful eight is definitely not Tarantino's best although i really enjoyed it. Even though it's on for ages i felt like it was still paced well and the ''twist'' was great Laugh

Even in terms of his newer films i didn't think it was better than Django Unchained, and definitely not Inglorious. Still an amazing film and i didn't really understand why folk were walking out of the cinemas and shit at the time.

It's hard to disassociate Django from that god awful cameo. Totally ruined a great film.

Agreed that Inglorious, Django and the Hateful 8 sees Tarantino on a really fine run.

Tarantino R rated Star Trek Wow

Anyway...

Jumanji - 8/10

Lots of fun this. Great family entertainment, the place was packed so the film must be doing well. I can't really fault this and Karen Gillan is a ride Vlad Shrug

Went to see Mollys game tonight, runs for just over 2 hours but it flew in, good watch, Jessica Chastain is absolute pinigol as Molly and Idris Elba is immense as her Lawyer, solid 8/10

The Foreigner

Jackie Chan's daughter gets blown up by the IRA ( in 2017 Zlat  Zlat  Zlat ) and he launches a campaign of counter terror against Pierce Brosnan's Irish Politician who definitely isn't meant to be Gerry Adams...

Warnock  Warnock  Warnock

Has some decent Chan action scenes and some hilarious political intrigue  Sound 7/10
