Really surprised the Uni is only 2 weeks and only 1 week full pay I know that's standard but would have thought they'd be a bit better than bare minimum.

I was lucky, after 1st April my work changed it to one week full pay then one week half pay so just snuck in to get the two week full pay

Think most places the max paternity leave is 2 weeks

I got one week full pay with second week statutory paternity pay which my work topped up. Ended up about £40 down then fired in a weeks holiday on top. It was only later I found out because she'd had a caesarean and my lassie was under school age I could've got carers leave on full pay

Yes you can now, in my case it's not possible due to her not working since we shut the takeaway

You can do that but not bothered for it. Just giving her the year off. I've got a generous enough annual leave I'll dip into, and hoping to arrange working from home days as well. Just a bit shite that the standard for men is 2 weeks with 1 paid. Fair enough from a wee business that can't afford it but you'd expect better from a University. Their maternity allowance is shite too but thankfully hers is really good so she's looking at 6 months full pay and 4 months stat pay
