He avoided paying £9,101.63 in tax by carrying out the scam, prosecuters said

“The illicit tobacco trade undermines legitimate retailers and costs the UK economy around £2.5 billion a year - money needed to fund vital public services."

So this boy was prolific and he diddles Hector out of 10K.  This the first case of this kind I've heard of, and they're saying that they lose 2.5billion pa.

Probably privately selling man. Wee bit more hassle but find out what price retailers are selling second hand for and take a bit of it.

Punted my last one on Gumtree with no problems at all. I know of others who've had hassle like Rog refers to, but I've always been ok selling mobiles and other things on there.

Just got a few tonnes of oak and need it to dry out a bit, it's just been chainsawed all the way up the trunk so it's in massive disks. Would I be better to leave it to dry like that so it"ll hopefully be easier to chop or chop it now so it dries quicker?

Way I understand it, is that you're better waiting after the tree has been cut down and into manageable sections you describe, before you chop it. We were only dealing with Douglas firs, although it's a softwood (well not quite but anyway) it's not a hardwood like oak (lucky you) so I'm not sure the same basic rules apply. We would chainsaw it down and cut it into short woodstove length log sections, then leave it for a year before splitting. Dead trees you can pretty much burn right away if you wish, and are simple to split. Either way Fir is very easy to split.

I realize talking of firs won't help you here but what I basically found was that the fresher the tree after cutting down the harder it was to split. I'd be tempted to store it for a good while before trying to chop it. Or ask at a timber yard what they'd suggest for oak.

Either way, don't put the axe through your ankle.
