This time celebrating a 0-0 might be justified for McGlynn.

Glad Clare got the goal. Big V with a nice assist, still looks quite naive though, often the wrong side of a defender when trying to win a header.

Shaughnessy looks a bit like a young Zal on the park.

I'm sure there was a five or so year run where the winners beat Raith in their run.

Nice bit of insight at the end of the BBC match report with McPhee' s interview (guessing it was also shown in the coverage?). At half time Liam Fox asked Clare when he's going to come to life Titter

Pretty shite first half; most couldn't wait to get rid of it.  Just noone to put their foot on the ball and think.  Naisy too wide, Djoum too deep (doing nowt) and Lee just doing nowt but giving it away.  Morrision, where's your left foot, ffs you're a paid footballer!   Monty Ha

Anyway, Levien seemed to give them the talk they needed over oranges.  They came back with more composure and more movement off the ball ... hey more control.  Don't want to say they settled for 1-0 after the goal but don't think they were busting a gut to get a second.

Vanacek looks quite tidy on the ball with some nice lay-offs/flicks, which could be interesting if we have someone willing to run off him ... uche?   Monty Chuckle Looks off the pace but hey, his first game on these shores.

In the next round with a winnable game.  Sound

I recall the Auchinleck goons on Kickback from the last time, and a pleasing thread telling them to fuck off after the game  Shitwine which of course was locked by the third page  Monty Oh Well

Could not have asked for a better tie, hopefully a lot more emphatic this time.

Not too worried about Vanecek based on yesterday. It was his first game against a notoriously no nonsense back three who have conceded the third fewest goals in the league.

He said he'd been ill before signing for us so it's been about six weeks since he's played in earnest. I'm actually quite encouraged that he doesn't look like the sort we'll just lump long balls to. He looked much more effective when we played it to feet and showed some nice touches.

Naismith our wide is wasted though. Don't know why we ever consider playing him anywhere except behind the main striker.

Vanacek had a very nice second half. Reminds me of Juanma (which is a good thing, imo although some will disagree).

He looks a clever player.

I don't see how a team with Naisy, Uche and him works though.

Vanecek played some really nice lay offs, obviously including the one for Clare. Played a couple in the first half that didn't come off because Morrison wasn't really expecting them or they were a bit overcooked but the idea was there.

Do agree that him and Uche would be a confusing partnership because they both seem to do the same things, but you never know.

When we signed Uche and Vanacek at the start of the season, Uche wasn't supposed to be as good as he's shown.

Uche is 23. Warnock Look forward to Wighton becoming a tank in a year or so.

Who knows where we would be in the league if we chucked Teplice a couple of hundred grand at the start of the season to secure him straight away.

I think they could work fine if we play three at the back.

GK

Smith Berra Souttar

Morrison Haring Lee Garuccio

Naismith

Vanecek Uche

For all him and Uche look similar on paper, Vanecek looks a player who can drop a little deeper and bring other into play with quick touches whereas Uche is very much someone you can play the ball to and hold it up to give players time to get up in support. Obviously with that formation you could play Smith for Morrison with Shaughnessy coming in if you wanted to keep it tighter or Clare for Garuccio if we wanted to attack more.

Don't really see how you play them both if we go four at the back as you would struggle to get Naismith and wide players in the team with two out and out strikers.

GK

Smith Souttar Berra Garuccio

Haring Lee

Morrison Naismith Clare

Vanecek/Uche

is still a good side with Shaughnessy, Mitchell, Djoum, Keena giving further options.

I don't think we need to play them both to be effective going forwards and given it's going to take Uche a good few games to get up to speed after injury, I don't think we're likely to see them play together for a good few weeks anyway.

It's just a relief to see some options in the attacking third again, particularly with other teams in the league varying between a back three and a back four. As Scott says it could've made a massive difference if we'd managed to get Vanecek in at the start of the season but in fairness to the club, I think it was Teplice's failure to sign a replacement that scuppered that.

Agree - Uche is more inclined to work the central defenders, VanaCzech looks more inclined to come away from them.
