The documentary doesn't lean to either side but I feel if you were baw deep in the case then it would be a bit disappointing. Doesn't seem to scratch the surface on many things.
I tend to find the sex trafficking theory more plausible than the police theory that they hid the body and then transferred it somewhere 25 days later when the eyes of the world were on them. Saying that, there are forums that say Gerry McCann disposed of a fridge where a body could have been stored but there is no evidence of it as far as I can see. Also seen things about one of their friends there that night being a relative of a UK MP. Could go down the rabbit hole on all this shit.
The only certainty is the Portuguese police were unbelievably corrupt and the McCanns were very strange people.

I was talking about this the other day. It does seem a bit irresponsible but they were only round the corner and checking every 20mins. The only reason you would never think about doing it now is because of Madeline Mccann.
Fuck knows, maybe not as young as her but i definitely remember being on my todd on holiday when my parents were down at the pool or whatever. Never really seemed like a big deal.

They got an extremely easy time of it from the media due to who they were and their professions.
I don't believe for a minute they'd have got half as much exposure or money to pay their mortgage amongst other things from the donations to their fund, if they were an unemployed or minimum wage couple from Easterhouse/Pilton/Dundee.
They should never have left their kid, but it was glossed over at the time and still is now. It's a shit situation, but they only have themselves to blame.
Just started episode two of the McCann documentary. Absolutely staggering that they left the kids in the apartment in the first place. Even more so when it states in the first episode that the apartment door was kept unlocked whilst the adults were having their meal.

What the fuck were they all thinking.
With the apartment looking right on to a main road as well. As horrible as the situation is, the McCann's were so negligent it's scary.
I thought it was quite a fascinating documentary, tbh. Could maybe have been a couple of episodes shorter, but overall decent. With the Guardian's review, were they expecting them to crack the case at the end?
