Doubt they'd do the actual searching for the gunpowder, that would be up to the dugs, in this day & age.

I don't know that ideas of modernity come in to it for these people.

Everyone seeing this racist, right wing pile on of stormzy?
Fuck me, the racist genie is definitely out of the bottle now.

Rightwing gas-lighting is running rampant. Allison Pearson is particularly effective at saying something repellent then getting affronted when they're called on it.

You can't even get agreement on saying racism is bad now.

Mental that they still felt a disclaimer was needed when Neville literally went with the 'both main parties' line (despite having come out for Labour before the election). Scary.

Did you see she previously slated reality TV contestants, then got an article deleted because her daughter entered 'the voice'. https://www.buzzfeed.com/markdistefano/v...mn-deleted

Said for the last couple years at least that Labour would do far better with Starmer in charge*, but it's hard to see how appointing a knighted Oxbridge boy who lives round the corner from Corbyn is the way to reconnect with the lost Northern and Scottish voters
![]() *including when Lawson said something about echo chambers and me not understanding JC's masterplan that would deliver a Labour majority

That's a really strange criticism of him, Sarkozy. He was raised in a working class family (his dad was a craftsman and his mum was a nurse, and he went to a state funded school) and was named after Keir Hardie - he has Labour credentials ingrained in him. Criticising him for later going to Oxbridge is pretty bizarre, particularly given where many of those lost votes have gone in 2019 and how he got there (he went to Leeds Uni for his degree and did a post grad at Oxford). Don't think he uses his knighted title either. Quite weird to see those things being held up as a negative.
The lost votes in Scotland are lost for long term and complex reasons, and probably won't ever come back tbh, but if they are to be won back, they need to be won back by someone who can communicate, is savvy enough to overcome the inevitable smears and is palatable enough to the establishment/media who fucked Miliband and Corbyn. Starmer has that, IMO.

I've mentioned for a couple of years that I'm comfortable with Labour's policy platform, but Starmer would be my choice over Corbyn.
I think a lassie would be better in the sense that, if they tried to call a lassie an anti-semite, communist, trotskyist, terrorist - they could then say "oh you're just sexist and want female leaders to fail". Starmer will have to do much better in absorbing the inevitable slander that will come his way in comparison to Corbyn and Milliband. The term Blairite loses all meaning if you start calling Starmer etc...this.

Tbh I think the left of the party is now strong enough to still have an influence under a softer left leader. Think Starmer is the best of a not especially inspiring bunch. A woman would be good purely to avoid smears along the lines of 'the Tories have had two women leaders, sexist Labour lol', but the candidates are all either bad or not ready.
