French hip hop is immense, I've only ever heard some individual tracks but I'll defo have a look at the artists mentioned.  It flows so well the accent is perfect Laugh  Any albums in particular from them?

Cheers for the other recommendations as well will definitely work my way through the list.

The Predator by Ice Cube is an absolute classic, the albums tone was set around the Rodney King incident, It was a good day & check yo self as the 2 singles-great videos for both as well.

Jeru The Damaja's sun rises in the east.

Love Wu tang but they released so much that you have to sift through the shit to find the classics, good starts would be 36 chambers or The Rza Hits which is a best of from early albums, Liquid Swords by Gza, Rza as Bobby Digital the album, ODB's nigga please,

Dead Prez's let's get free is a really good album although its lyrical themes are a bit intense

Cypress Hill black Sunday and III temples of boom are class as well

Black Sunday was my gateway in to Hip Hop, one of my mates had the album on cassette, and played it constantly.

I remember getting a new CD player for my birthday and going out and buying Black Sunday alongside Boss Drum by the Shamen on CD after having them on tape. Laugh

From there I got into NWA, Wu Tang, Ice Cube, Dre, Snoop etc. and then started dressing like I was from downtown Compton. Warnock

Still love listening to it now, constantly on in the car on a sunny day or chilling in the garden, although the missus definitely isn't a fan.

Art de Rue from Fonky Family or L'Ecole du Micro d'Argent from IAM are two of the classics from the ones Begbie mentioned, also worth looking into Booba, Arsenik, or Lunatic for nineties/noughties stuff (Booba was part of Lunatic but is still doing good solo stuff).

The ones I mentioned are a bit more recent, although Kery James has been around for a while. Si c'était à refaire is a good album, but his more recent stuff is good too. I like Négritude by Youssoupha and Prose Elite by Médine Quite Good

Edit: fuckin forgot the italics Mugbie

It had the better individual songs but I love that a grand don't come for free is a coherent story. Easy to sit and listen to the entire album and not mind the weaker songs as it moves the story forward. I wouldn't skip any songs but would on original pirate material.

The Suburbs and The Streets would have been close in my list as well. If we're talking about the 4 albums you take to a desert island and you'll never listen to any others in your life, I'm switching out Illinoise, but it's just an unreal concept and executed perfectly.
