Been playing FM again recently, managed to get edinburgh city to the championship but can't get them full time and this is the league, so fully expecting to be relegated this season

I know that's not the current championship but it just shows why that league is so competitive given there is no major gulf in investment or support-Dundee in your fm league would have better gates and support but not by much

Motherwell always end up in the Championship whenever I play FM : shame it doesn't happen in real life. 

In my FM game I've managed to take Malaga from relegation battle in La Liga 2 to European contention in the top flight in 2 and a half seasons, all while making a tidy profit buying and selling young players :

Started unemployed last week, and got a job in the norn irish second division without relegation fodder. It's really hard to battle my usual style of signing youngsters and working them up because they just stay shite here. First season was midtable, second was play offs and this season i'll hope to go up via the play offs - whoever gets relegated is always miles better than anyone.

Signing players is a lark; everyone is on a pay as you play deal, meaning you can lift folk from your rivals pretty easily, but that goes both ways. Got the board to agree to go pro at the end of the season, so that'll make a massive difference whether i go up or not. Right now i've signed 40+ each year; no compo to dump them so it's quicker to sign them and chuck them than it is to scout them.

Took me ages to figure it out but I've made 4 leagues of 16. Hearts starting in the second tier for a bit of realism.

That's a shocker though Is that FM20 they've introduced it? Still only played a season of 19 since I downloaded it so not happened for me yet if it's in there.

That is a shocking set of rules tbf, just have to use that conveyor belt : 

I've only ever had it where they need a work permit to play in the U.K. which is bad enough when you're at teams like Hearts and not exactly picking up established internationals.

Get the editor. I got it yesterday for the first time ever and you can pretty much change whatever you want. 

I put hearts into the second tier, got rid of all the loan players and that, put my transfer budget to pretty much 0. 

Also made it so we were fan owned but it's elected with a maximum term of 2 years and only a maximum of 2 terms. Budge is set to be ousted in about 10 days time

Also turned on the setting to allow us to be sold to an outside buyer which is turned off by default since we're fan owned.

I did a quality editor file on one a few years back, must have been the season after we won the cup. Stuck Hearts in League 2 in England and filled the gap in the Scottish leagues by bumping the best team up a league and sticking our reserves in League 2 as a colts team.

Rudi had left but you could pick him up easily as a free transfer, also picked up Billy McKay with the EFL TV money to allow me to boot Sutton

Ended up winning the English Premiership with Hearts while Rudi managed the reserves in the SPL - used to punt my £30m+ rated stars down to the reserves so they could pump Hibs in the derbies
