I was going to write some verbose response but the reality is thick as pigshit ignorant cunts who've made poor life choices combined with no effort to gain an education and a lack of self awareness means the shitty lives they find themselves in are the fault of posh/educated/dark skinned/eastern european people (delete as applicable based on what the Sun/Star or Daily Mail are telling them that week)

Think it's pretty clear that racism is the major factor in the abuse Ash Sarkar gets and for Jones it's homophobia. Their opinions are almost less important than that - there are other people in the media saying much the same things they do who don't get 5% of the abuse.

I just don't get the bit in your post yesterday where you say that parents are bad faith actors pushing political agendas.

Surely their motive is that they  just want their bairns back in school so they can get back to work? The idea that they are covert agents for the Labour and Conservative party? Happy to hear your explanation because I've not been following this at all.

If these people really cared about the attainment gap, they'd be pushing for genuine reform to the system instead of clamouring for a return to the exact normality that has entrenched those inequalities. You just need to read the Sunday Times' “manifesto” from their last edition to see that the attainment gap is not important to them beyond a campaign shouting point. The key media figures from the campaign include Jack McConnell (education advisor to a company that is actively lobbying for privatisation of education), Andy McIver (on the payroll of an anti-Teaching Union lobbying firm) and a list of parliamentary candidates for the Tories and Labour masquerading as “concerned parents”. It's agenda driven, and parents who are genuinely worried are being exploited by this.
