Fucking dreadful. 79 mins, with ten minutes of credits at the end.
He's settled on a ranch, has a sort of step daughter. She gets kidnapped, he rescues her but she dies anyway, he kills some of them to lure them to his ranch and he Home Alone kills them all.
That's it. He happens to be called John Rambo but there's none of the ptsd from the first. None of the quiet man being unfairly treated by the establishment. It's more like Death Wish or some other revenge movie; which is fine, but that's got nothing to do with Rambo.
It's also been written with Trump supporters in mind as it plays to every stereotype of hispanic and mexican people you could imagine. Gangs, drugs, lazy, stupid, rapists, lax immigration policy.
If you've prime just skip ahead to the last twenty minutes as it's fun watching Stallone go full Kevin McAllister. Seeing Sly pin a man to a wall with four arrows then literally reach in to his chest to pull out his still beating heart to show it to him before he dies was worth the hour of sort of attention I gave it. Would absolutely be worth 20 mins of your time.
Watched Cell last night, it's like they took the plot summary of the book from Wikipedia and called it a screenplay. Absolutely no character development so when randoms die you don't give a shit then they totally changed the ending and it makes no sense. Just a bad bad film

The second is him trying to get his war buddies back. Reluctantly.
The third is him trying to win religious freedom for the peace loving mujaheddin of afghanistan in the 80s against the commies. Reluctantly.
I've seen the fourth and can't remember what happens. Probably fuck all to do with Rambo, but a not awful 'old man in an action movie' movie.
My main gripe isn't that the character is lost, just that it's so, so much worse than it needs to be. I can't stress how unimportant the first 50mins are. It felt like a pilot for a tv show, except they're setting nothing up.
