Hamilton did a job like. Almost a goal every 2 games - for a Hearts striker Wow

Hamilton at the end was a huddy for us, remember getting trolled silly by his uncanny ability to mistime his jumps for headers so he was always almost back on the ground by the time the ball reached him :Laugh

Great player in the 98 season though.

What I'd give for a Hearts striker to even be 1 in shree these days man Warnock

Jim Hamilton was very underrated imo. Adam was technically excellent but I remember him being out for long spells with injuries.

Was that one of those Sunday night at 5 past 6 games? Was always smashed for those.  GodIsGod

Agree that Jackson signing and Cameron coming
back from injury saved us. Was up at tannadice midweek when we came back from 1 down to win
3-1 and come off the bottom of the table.

Massive Hearts support that night.

I was a fan of Hamilton. Underrated player.

Good guy too. Slavered drunken nonsense to him in Millers in Broxburn on many occasions back in the day.

IIRC, the only player to top the goalscoring charts, other than Robbo, whilst Robbo was at the club.

Hamilton came into his own in 97/98 but sadly was one of a few players to underperform the following season.

I was still shocked he was sold for so little (around £200k maybe?) I thought he was probably harshly treated but Adam and McSweagan were ahead of him in the pecking order.

Jim Hamilton is a massive hun and refused point blank to do the 5-1. Crowe

I'm not sure how to feel about any of this

I recall he did his part coming off the bench in the '98 final.

The journeyman's journeyman after he left Tynecastle. Recall him scoring an absolute peach for Motherwell against Celtic:

He was the classic 'done a job' player. The sort of player we've failed to find for so long.

Overall a good JJ signing at a time when we managed to buy good Scottish players from smaller clubs, think Cameron, Weir, McCann and him! He was one of those players who had a number of memorable moments for Hearts; a double at Easter Road on the 1st January 1997 in the famous Jim Duffy derby, another double in the 4-2 come back win at Fir Park in front of a big Hearts support which kept us level with Rangers and Celtic in late February 98, the Hearts equaliser in the Mallorca 'goalposts' game, his part in the Jose Quitongo Celtic 1-1 and of course being part of the Cup winning team. At other times he played like a complete donkey.

I have never seen that second keeper top that Rousset is in - the main one from that season was yellow and black, that one looked almost multi-coloured like the old Asics ones...
