I first visited this bothy (run by the MBA since 1975) in 1978 and returned numerous times over the years. The landowner closed it in October 2020, citing damage to the surrounding natural tree species (folks were cutting trees down for firewood instead of just collecting fallen/old stuff). On the day that Scotland-wide travel restrictions lifted in July 2020 I took the family for their first and now likely only visit. We traipsed over the hill and down to the old village by the sea in pissing rain. Needless to say there was no firewood left inside as is custom. Laugh

but we managed to dry up over the course of the next 24 hrs with the help of bursts of sunshine.

It's a gorgeous spot that holds many great memories for me. Can't believe I'm now reading about it as one of Scotland's coolest holiday rentals, in the fucking Guardian! Get To Woy
