I get the fear numerous times in a round but aye the 18th from the bottom of the hill is a big one, no the first time I've been playing with folk who've screamed one into the car park/clubhouse :

Head down East Lothian for the best golf. Inner city Burgess is good but not particularly visitor friendly.

I was thinking East Lothian - finding a decent course for Sarkozy to hack round might be tricky though as I fear he'd struggle.

Played Castle Park a few years ago when it was pretty new and I was a shambles, TBF. Lost countless balls in the long stuff that is just off the fairway.

I'll keep Glencorse in mind seeing as it's the only suggestion, though

Kilspindie or Gullane 2 (might be easier to book as a visitor than 1) would be my go-to in that area that won't cost a fortune (both around £70 a round last time I played).

Think Craigielaw might be in the same ballpark for a weekday round - but havent been there in a couple of years.

Winterfield in Dunbar is a cracking wee day out like. A lot of par threes. Nice views and it's in good Knick.

Windyfield I call it. I remember hitting a big floater away to the right on the first then had a blind pitch up the hill not really having a clue where the green was, I also absolutely rattled one off the back wall on the second or 3rd and ended up being a good shot

In all seriousness if you're getting the choice between courses down the coast in East Lothian and elsewhere I'd be recommending East Lothian all day. If I could afford it I'd be down there all the time.
