Not a surprise considering he's a Merc driver mind you.

Probably been asked to set the Merc narrative early doors. Big thing coming from another driver on the grid.

Great spectacle to watch but fairly unbelievable that the Race Director can make up the rules as he goes along.

Hamilton and Toto have every right to be livid.

The rules seems to change from week to week in F1 these days.

Hamilton and Verstappen both come across as absolute bells, tbh.

You need to be a bell to even begin a career as an F1 driver. When has anyone who loves go karting and takes it seriously not been a bell end.

There needs to be a rule regarding safety cars towards the end of the race. Why not red flag it? Then its a fair race to the end. That today was great viewing but very questionable.

Some boy on Twitter was questioning the same thing and saying when heavy machinery is brought on to move a car then it gets red flagged but not sure if that's a rule or just going by precedent.

I did think they might have red flagged it for the reasons they ended up bending the rules so they could get a couple laps racing in.

We can't just keep writing more rules because the race director isn't able to make decisive decisions.

Race should've finished under safety car conditions as they couldn't clear the track and unlap all the cars in time to start a new lap. No new rules needed. Yes, that creates a damp squib crossing over the line, but this "let them race" is a neat cover for "implement rules based on what will garner most spectacle". Discredits it as a sport.

With Max on softs and Hamilton on 30 lap used hards, you've basically decided who wins the title while pretending you are "letting them race".

I think rules were changed after Jules Bianchi's accident.

Yea that's definitely what should have happened and probably would have happened at any other race of the season, they couldn't be seen to do it at such a deciding point of the season.

100% manufactured and like you say takes the shine off the season majorly, they won't care because they'll likely have gained some new fans with that drama.

I can see Mercedes leaving the sport as a manufacturer in next couple of years. They have won yet another constructors and they will be reviewing the business case of remaining in a sport which is starting to gain a reputation as sports entertainment rather than elite motor racing.

I can see the FIA awarding it to Hamilton by keeping the position behind the safety car as the finishing positions.

Has a race finish ever been retrospectively changed?
