It's better than pointless friendlies and the top players in your side are more likely to be available instead of "tweaking" a hamstring just before a friendly.

Not 100% sure about that tbh. The nations league still not really that important and if you take away the incentive of qualifying for something like the euros which I think they'd have to with non European teams competing then they are just pointless friendlies.

Teams like us won't get the glamour ties against the likes of Brazil and Argentina, we'll get the lesser teams in our groups and with club bosses quite quick to protect their players I doubt they'll be buzzing about them going on big long journeys for a nothing game against Peru.

Just seems an unnecessary amount of travel for what is meant to be a European competition.

but we dont have that anymore. Nations League has been a success as it is - hence these guys from other federations trying to piggy back on it to get some wonga.

Would the South American teams not just pick their European based players and use a stadium over here?

Maybe they could run their own nations leagues in their own federation then have some sort of finals where the winners all play each other?
