It's just a big publicity stunt, probably to deflect away from something else or purely for a bit of drama to keep these award shows entertaining and to keep folk tuning in incase they get a bit of off script action.

I don't really know why but all I know is it was staged and it will eventually come out as staged probably on some podcast down the line.

He must be a good actor seeing as it looks like people have actually fell for it which isn't surprising really, proper eastenders head movement on the slap from the wee presenter, doesn't even throw his arm up to try and block the 'slap' which would be the natural reaction, the force Smith pretends to put on it would have actually been fucking sore and he'd have been shook from it not just standing laughing giving it 'WOW" without a hand mark on his jaw. It's a Hollywood encounter and folk want to believe it's real.
