Let us know when you work out why they'd bother to stage something like this. Sound

Why would actors stage a moment that will be talked about for decades to come at the Oscars? Hmm...

What has adrenaline got to do with it? I didn't get a mark on my coupon from a full on slap in the face because adrenaline.

I don't think Will Smith or Chris Rock need any kind of career boost tbh, and - even if they did - not sure that (1) staging a single punch/slap, (2) Will Smith swearing at Chris Rock afterwards (ensuring that it can't be broadcast as-is most of the time), then (3) Will Smith pretty much acting like nothing happened at afterparties, before (4) potentially being stripped of his Best Actor award, would be the best way to ensure a career boost. Warnock He's already arguably the most famous actor in the world - don't think he really needs the publicity.

You were querying why he wasn't shaken up afterwards. Same reason you celebrate a goal at Easter Road then realise later that your shins are bruised to fuck. May Bee

I don't know why it was staged or why they did it, I just think it was staged because it's a stupid yank award ceremony and that's what they do, maybe viewers are falling or something don't know and not really bothered.

If the guy pressed charges or whatever then I'd believe it was real but it will all go down as a monumental TV moment that people will talk about for years to come and Smit will be praised for standing up for his wummin and giving an emotional speech etc etc.

If Smit goes and moves in with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air then I'll believe it's real.

The whole slapping sequence looked staged at first, Rock with his arms behind his back leaning forwards, and just the whole slapping motion. Everything afterward though, you can't fake that shit. Chris Rock was clearly taken aback and had to compose himself, Will Smith was clearly absolutely fuming. It's the Oscars, not the Golden Globes or that, it would never be approved as a "skit" to have Will Smith swearing on the telly. America is well weird about swearing.

Wee lew has it all figured out though. Swanning about his day today telling everyone it's fake because he's eye balled it and he can tell Laugh

Why would a man who's about to win best actor do it? Warnock absolutely nothing to gain.

Aye cause a seasoned comedian can't come up with a few lines off the cuff. The fact they weren't great lines should show they weren't pre-written. I wouldn't expect him to be trying to act like it was staged when what they're doing is supposed to look legit enough for people to believe it's real.

Good performance from Smit though, the faux anger and all, definitely deserving of an Oscar.
