That's a bit of a 'weak' midfield - and risky if any of them get injured. Plus, Doak. WTF.

Not against Doak being called up.
Assume Mccrorie is playing right back for Bristol City these days otherwise an odd call up. Harsh on Kingsley I think, he's had a better season at centre half than Souttar and can play wing back no bother. Ryan Jack is just fucking odd though, hasn't played since March for the Huns.

Sensible squad. I would've preferred Max Johnston over McCrorie but I see the rationale.
Jack is a typical loyalty pick from Clarke but saying that, he's always performed very well for Scotland. Doak and Forrest were the main two I wanted to see in.

Kens the squad, has always performed well when called upon, knows Steve Clarke's 352 system etc etc... Loyalty pick and probably favourite to be dropped alongside one of the goalies for the final 26 man squad, so needs to show us he is fit in these friendlies.

McCrorie seems to play at RWB for Bristol city so I can understand that one. When did Ryan jack last get minutes

McCrorie's ability to play absolutely everywhere may have sneaked him in ahead of Max Johnston.
If we need to go from a 5 to a 4 mid-way through the game it offers that flexibility.

Johnston is an uncapped 20 year old who’s started 2 games this season in a worse league than the SPFL. Would have been much more of a gamble than Ralston or McCrorie IMO. Do hope Forrest starts RWB at least in the second and third games though.

Doak in the Theo Walcott role

He's also more talented than Ross McCrorie. Understand the decision, but I always like the best players playing. The tournament has came a little too early for him sadly. Generally scraping the barrel now though. It should be Calvin Ramsay all day long but he's fallen off a cliff with injuries and shan performances on loan. So we are down to 4th and 5th choices now. I actually back Forrest to perform better than Patterson would have though - he's a depressed shadow of himself under Dychey.

Can’t ask for a better manager for a defender to learn under really, look at how Branthwaite (younger than Patterson btw) has come on this year. Reality is Patterson hasn’t looked up to it under multiple managers at Everton and Rangers pulled their pants down with the fee (about 15x what we got for Hickey :woods: )

He needs to move on as he isn’t a Dyche type player and never signed him.

Two to be cut from that provisional squad, I think?
Surely Liam Kelly and Ryan Jack will be getting the heave-ho.
