I would never put down artificial turf, mainly for the reasons Scott points out but also because it looks terrible after a few years and will only be fit for landfill after a decade.

Having normal grass and running a lawnmower over it once a fortnight seems to be far less work than hoovering/power washing an ugly bit of plastic in your back yard.

In all serious you shouldn't be doing the artificial turf thing. We've got to try and support the polinators in our local environments as best we can.

If you have a kid, it's a great moment to teach them the importance of looking after not only humans but plants, insects and local wildlife.  You lose that if you've put down a green carpet and call gardening gay. You also want them to feel the earth on their feet as children so when they grow up they have memories of playing in nature.

I (the wife) literally only need to sweep/hoover(if anything’s deeply engrained in it once/twice a year. 

Am I fuck wasting hours of my life cutting it and maintaining it regularly and fucking about with brown bins etc.

We got a good up and coming company at the time to do it using good gear at an extremely cheap rate as they were trying to make a name for themselves so I won’t be needing any deviants like Mikey anytime soon.
