Correct of course. Three bleak turning points:
1. Argentina 1978 - because it stopped future Scotland managers having a real go and trying to develop a bandwagon. The depressing change in Scotland's style began under Big Jock.
2. Portugal 5-0 Scotland 1993, when Strachan himself warned of the wilderness which would follow if root and branch change didn't happen. No-one listened; most just blamed Roxburgh instead. Portugal had achieved very little in international football prior to that night; they've been constant semi-finalists and quarter-finalists since.
3. Scotland 0-3 Morocco 1998. That night, pundits spoke of a whole generation out of major tournaments. I thought they were exaggerating. Couldn't have been more wrong.
Meanwhile, that Scotland's wilderness years began at the exact same point as the Greed Is Good SPL was formed cannot be a complete coincidence.
