Might be being completely daft here, but who are the kurds?  I looked them up on wikipedia, am I right in saying their country(?) is split over turkey, iran, iraq and syria?

Are they a Sunni country?  Watched that video that Shaun posted which was quite helpful but can't quite understand where they come into it.

I think they're mainly made up of Sunni Muslims but there's Christians, Shiatte and other faiths thrown in there as well. I'm happy to be corrected but I don't think they're as strongly religious as most other people in that region of the world. The Turks hate them but I think the majority of people in South East Turkey are actually Kurds.
