Great thing on BBC 1 about the 78 world cup. The Scottish optimism Love it.

I think that was the last time I was excited about the National Team, especially after that epic header from Dalglish against Wales - I got dragged through to Prestwick to wave the team off along with thousands of others - I can still remember it vividly - misty and drizzling, all the boys waving at us as they got on the plane.

Then Peru happened and the writing was on the wall....that said, to witness the Gemmell goal live on the telly, was just about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

But that's Scotland, so near yet so fucking shite in the main.
