It's simplistic to compare it to pubs. There's also undoubtedly an economic aspect to pubs opening earlier than other places (and, to a degree, that's fair enough), but they're different things.

Also 'pubs are open so gyms should be open' implies that pubs being open is right. Imo they probably shouldn't be, but economic considerations have superseded health concerns. Two wrongs don't make a right, basically.
