It’s becoming clear Del had us massively overperforming the squad of players we’ve got. Brilliant while it lasted but we were always going to revert to the norm at some point until we upgrade more of the squad.
Realistically it’s a squad of players to finish 3rd and we’re well ahead of that as it stands. Being honest, who in the squad do we genuinely think is good enough to play at a higher level than Hearts? Probably Kyzi if he finds some more consistency but that’s about it IMO. Our better players in Shankland, Halkett, Beni are very good Hearts players but Hearts is the peak of their careers and highest level they’ll play at. The difference with Celtic (even Rangers usually) is they’ll have a couple guys in their squad who are a class above the league they’re playing in; we need to find that somewhere if we want to start challenging for the title in the next few years.
