Even including the SC finals, I don't think there's been a bigger derby in my lifetime.
We'll be going to ER, guaranteed top of the league, knowing that we're 5 games from winning the league. In the last 60 years, only four league titles have went outside the Old Firm.
No team would love to burst our hopes more than them. They were singing at Pittodrie about us falling apart when Well went one up. So we know them and their fans will be on us from the first minute, and we were awful in our last visit there, and we're going there on a run of abysmal away results.
We've a bit of a break now, which suits us. McInnes mentioned after today that a lot of our players weren't quite match ready and are just returning from lay offs.
The team we put our has to be, yes, our best players and formation, but also, take into account fitness, form, and ability to fight and win our battles at a place like ER with huge pressure on us. I think that calls into question for me - Kyziridis. And whilst I wanted Altena to get game time, it's hard to now see such a huge call to start him if McInnes has doubts. Especially in our defence.
For me.
Schwollow
McEntee
Halkett
Findlay
Milne
Beningime
Devlin
Leonard
Kerjota
Shankland
Braga
Huge call to leave out Kyziridis. But he's just been a passenger too long and we can't afford any at ER. McInnes might think Kerjota is too small, but he's not shy on getting involved and with the boots flying, he's the sort that might win free kicks or a penalty. We are the league's most threatening team from set pieces and I see Kerjota getting in the mix more than either Kyziridis or Chesnokov. I can't even recall either of them putting a telling cross in for months.
I also think we have to have three combatative CMFs going there, no two in the middle and letting them win the midfield.
Such a huge game. Our last visit gives me the fear about this one. McInnes has to be on this and getting the players totally in the zone. No bad performances allowed, everyone has to turn up and show for this.
