Kyziridis Braga Shankland Chesnokov
We've lost Shanks and I think there's every chance we end up accepting bids for Kyzriidis and Braga. Also looks like we're trying to work Chesnokov out. Above would have been our 25-26 front four, albeit Chesnokov never really got that chance.
These are the main players that seem to be getting linked. Davide Lamesta being the only RW I've seen linked.
Miller Ba-Sy Ramires Lamesta
I'm not about to start saying Shanks, Braga and Kyziridis aren't good players. But I have a feeling we'll end up with a more complimentary front line with a range of abilities that might work better overall.
We don't like hearing it. But Kyziridis was poor nearly all second half of the season. And Braga could be posted missing in a lot too and look full of running but little working or coming off. We also struggled sometimes to accommodate Braga with Shankland and pushed Braga wide. Our away form from as far back as Feb was one of the worst in the league, and the forwards need to share that blame. I'm aware of the games we missed Shanks.
Again, I KNOW how good all three were / are. But I do think the club can bring in a full set of players where the overall is better range of options that work well together.
Already at LW we'll have Calvin Miller who was close to signing for Celtic in January. And his understudy looks like being Josh McPake. Who was Kyziridis' understudy? Forrest? Mato? Calvin Miller blew the league away for assists and didn't dip all season. Ramires would be a real coup if it turns out he's our no1 target and we land him. Ba-Sy might not be a great finisher but it looks like his power, running and aerial ability will be a real asset. And I've watched two highlight reels of Lamesta, who knows, we might not even be looking at him. But he looks far too good for the league he's in, a stronger, more direct Kerjota.
I also think if Wilson leaves for money too there's a good chance of a real statement signing or two at CF or on the wings.
Trying to be positive given the players we might lose. We're a very intelligent club, have faith in the replacement strategy and also Del's input. I think he'll insist on a more creative MF too, to support these arrivals up front. Last year we over relied on A - Kyziridis and B - set pieces to create. We need more threat from standard outfield play and from our MF centrally. I think this will also see us a more threatening side, despite losing Shankland, and probably even more exciting.
We'll be fine.
