Really enjoyed Wet Hot American Summer. Daft as fuck but pretty funny.
Really helps if you've seen the movie though. They stuck it on Netflix over here when I was 3/4 through the series and all of a sudden it made a lot more sense.

My old man recommended Blue Bloods.
Got about 3 episodes in before realising how fucking shite it was.

Watched a bit more of Wet Hot American Summer and actually enjoying it. Really daft but clever humour. Reminds me a bit of the Airplane movies.
The cast is mental. You spend the whole time going 'aw there's that guy'. Will need to check out the film as well if that helps get it more.

Aye as I said in the film thread, absolutely watch the film. The whole concept of the show is that it's a prequel to a 14 year old film with the original cast members. It's a 90 minute easy watch so you might as well.

Thought the film was mediocre. Standard snl style movie. Not nearly a high enough laugh rate.
Is the show better or is it just famous people spotting?

Had all the hallmarks of MacGruber, which is a classic in my eyes. I'm glad I saw it now rather than when it came out, as half the appeal to me was, as you say, famous people spotting. The majority of the actors are now very current which is quite a novelty.

I don't know that it's harsh, there's a reason it did no business when it came out. The fact that some of the cast went on to do better stuff is just, as you say, a novelty. An unknown Dana Carvey plays the miming waiter in Spinal Tap; his going on to make Wayne's World doesn't make Spinal Tap better
In reality, calling it mediocre is kind. This isn't harold and maude, symbiopsychotaxiplasm or citizen kane where it lay unappreciated for years and was 're-discovered' and brought back to the public conscience. It's a low laugh rate sketch comedy made as a pastiche of a genre of movies best never considered ever again. That said, i love David Hyde Pierce and would watch him in anything.

I notice Fear the Walking Dead is on this new BT/AMC channel tonight. If you look on the Sky Planner it says Freeview but wonder if this is just for the first episode?
