England's u21 team is filled with players who either don't play for a Premier League team or barely get a game in the Championship. Can see the point about players who have played all season not being at their best but not playing is surely worse.

Same in the Copa from what I have seen too. Plodding along. No doubt as we get into the KO stages tonight the tempo will increase.

Have you been watching the Copa America, pondlife? Don't think you'd mentioned it.
From what I've seen of the Copa, half of the goals have been headers from set pieces. Really not what you expect from a load of South American teams.

Actually, I would have said that about the Copa, but also saw 2 great games there in Argentina vs Paraguay and Mexico vs Chile, so I wonder if that's more down to the approach of the teams/managers? No doubt it will have an impact though, some of these guys have played 50 and 60 games in their season already.

The Portugal team is filled with boys who have been playing every week for the likes of Sporting, Malaga, Deportivo, Porto etc, and they just looked wiped out. Sweden have top class players like John Guidetti ffs :look: and they weren't any better. Aye no doubt it has an impact. Dunno when else they could play these things though? Any later and it impacts pre season and clubs wouldn't have it.

Maybe the clubs wouldn't let regular starters away, but then, is that who these tournaments are really for anyway? The African Nations gets away with it?

Aye, watching the Copa, Nic. Chile working the ball well at times. Uruguay, as you would expect sitting deep trying unsuccessfully to hit Cavani.

Brazil oot on penalties after a very poor performance in the second half. Paraguay were great and could maybe have won it in normal time, was delighted to see them progress as they were the more attacking, brave side in the game.
Got to be questions asked of Brazil now after this and the World Cup, they are very mediocre and don't even play decent football anymore. Utterly reliant on Neymar, who was suspended tonight. Guys like Ribiero, Douglas Costa, Diego Tardelli etc just are not up to the standard you expect from them - an absolutely hilarious penalty miss from both Costa and Ribiero in the shootout as well, a must watch on YouTube ![]()

Did you see some of the misses in the Argentina shoot out? Awful stuff
06-28-2015, 02:09 PM
Aye they were ridiculous - saw some highlights on Sky Sports News yesterday
![]() The Costa one is a proper Baggio X 10 - hilarious. Paraguayan boy stepped up right after him and did the same thing as well ![]()

I thought the first Brazil miss was worse - could barely have scuffed it worse than that.
