If people thought Budgement Day was harsh, how about this for the way Newcastle released Taylor and Gutierrez? Phoned up Taylor in the dressing room, told him he was released then asked him to pass the phone to Gutierrez so he could be released too

Aye, the fact that they released them is hardly the issue though.

Gutierrez has been there seven years, vice-captain for a bit and has just come through cancer and they just tagged him on to the end of Taylor's phone call as an afterthought. The players themselves have said that they can't argue with being released but it's a bit classless to do it like that.

A bit much dealing with them on the phone at all never mind the same one considering what they've both been through, Jonas more so than Taylor obviously. Both their careers have been on the line over the last few years through injury and illness.

Instead of calling each player individually, he's like "right lad, that's you dealt with - pass the phone onto Jonas son".
