Mind when Cameron was going to arm various rebel groups, the main one being Isis to oust Assad.
![]() He doesn't know what he's doing. That's the main point. Dangerous to have such a vacuous being in charge of military decisions.

Supposedly our bombing campaign against ISIS in Iraq has killed over 300 of them, 0 civilians* and reduced their territory by 30%
![]() TBH I dont really see the difference in bombing them in Syria as we're already doing it a few miles away over a practically non existent border. *Find that statistic hard to believe.

Ian Murray was against Trident too, I wouldn't read to much into his hourly opinion change.

Some maps for your perusal:
![]() ![]() If there are 70,000 FSA troops (which there aren't), they're not exactly well placed.

Not sure what you mean about them being well placed?
Most noticable thing about that is that al-Nusra are involved in almost exclusively urban fighting and just how much of a clusterfuck Aleppo is. The map (whilst probably lacking some detail) also highlights the point I made in the politics thread about the limited contact between ISIS and the Assad regime.

Some 2009 era hipsters going to source some authentic figs and olives who got caught up in the fighting I presume.

Which is just brilliant.

The name stuck out to me as well, was looking them up a couple of weeks ago along with a lot of other factions. I think they're basically one of these groups that would be classed in the moderate islamist camp, in that they were one of these brigades that received Saudi funding and along the way have picked up army defectors and civilians. They're classed as islamist but they don't go beheading children to prove a point. Think it's worth pointing out that not all of these brigades that are islamist are necessarily extreme in comparison to other groups. |
