Thoughts on this? It's quite clearly a different thing

I'd defend him if he was funny but since he's not funny I think it's shocking hypocrisy. Shocked to my core

Lycett is great tbh. The sun probably thinking it was some big gotcha that would take him down a peg or two when he's been open about it in the past, an embarrassing rag. You know you're generally onto a good thing when the scummy tabloids start accusing you of hypocrisy. His reply is good.

Don't know the guy but I get the feeling he's probably not that funny.
He'll have got what he wanted out the stunt mind because I'd never heard of him and now his name is getting banded about so it'll be job done in that regard.

... looking like John Newman?

Gary Neville paying minimum wage at his hotels as well after preaching to everyone
if you are going to be talking about these things you really should make sure your untouchable as it just distracts from the issue and gets the gammons all smug.

The hypocrisy angle is just a desperate lunge from clueless arseholes 90% of the time. It's such an easy out to find some flimsy excuse to throw the word hypocrite around instead of facing uncomfortable truths.

I take it you're still talking about Lycett here, if he's criticising people for taking up roles in Qatar for the world cup when he himself has done gigs over there then that is actually hypocritical, what's he bothered about that he didn't get millions for it?

In fairness he was paid by a uk promoter and it was a few hundred quid for a shite gig - it's not a great look but your views can change a lot in 7 years and beckham was paid by Qatar to promote the country.
I don't think he's been as open about it as he could've been though because he didn't mention it at all on that David beckham special thing he done which seems a bit sly

It was more a general point and applies to loads of things but yeah, if Lycett had tried to cover it up or whatever then fair dos but he's seemingly been pretty open about the fact he did a gig in Qatar once. I'm not denying it's hypocritical I just don't think it matters much.

Is the accusation here that having done work in Qatar in the past is the same as signing up to be a PR shill for the Qatari government?
How thick do you have to be to think he's even got a case to answer?

It's in his autobiography and he's mentioned it in a number of other interviews apparently so doesn't quite seem the gotcha that the Sun are claiming
