From what I understand, it's a bit premature as there are some issues with pensions to be resolved, but there aren't any services being cut as it stands. Despite what decades of neoliberal framing would have us believe, you actually can have a balanced budget that puts regular people first. It's basically sewer socialism redux.

Regardless, he was left a mess by that weird cunt Adams and showed some amount of guile to get Hochul on board with his tax increases for the ultra wealthy. To her credit, she's savvy enough to see which way the wind is blowing, and getting onside with Mamdani will probably help her fend off a primary challenge. I'll be voting against her in the primary, but if she wins, I'll grudgingly back her in the general.

Mamdani is a generational talent; if he were born a US citizen, the White House wouldn't be out of reach.

Except he actually walks the walk (at least at the moment), Obama was always a corporate hack who just happened to be one of the most gifted orators of the 21st century.

I'm not a particularly big fan of AOC, but I would certainly want her over most of the shite the Dems will put out in '28. I think she has a better chance than you might think. She has that outsider appeal and sense of authenticity that establishment candidates don't.

The big issue both Clinton and Harris had was the feeling they were being forced on voters (literally true in the case of Harris), and they moved so far to the right to chase the non-existent "moderate" Republicans that they alienated the voters they could get. I fear another rat fucking is afoot, and Newsom will be the anointed one despite being exactly the wrong type of candidate for the moment.
