Hate to say it but he's being found out big time. A fucking clown who think he's a tactical genius.

Always worrying about countering the other mob, let them worry about us.

Too clever for his own good at times. He's clearly got ability, needs to stop the fucking about with the side and play to our strengths.

We just need to play Nicholson, Walker and King every week with either Sow or Juanma up front. Everything behind that is up in the air a bit with injuries and suspensions but that has to be the front 4 every week.

Playing Sow, Juanma and Reilly as wingers (or at all in Reilly's case!) just isn't working.

He did this against Hibs last season. Obsessed with trying to "out-tactic" Stubbs and it almost cost us a few times. Last match against Hibs we got punished.

If we are going to play one up front, he needs to decide between Sow and Juanma, and leave the other on the bench. Having one of them out wide is fucking pish. We have some very talented wingers, lets play them there instead of having a striker out there

Juanma was blowing out his arse for almost the entire second half. Sadly, we started all our senior strikers, so had nobody to replace him.

King should have been on about half an hour earlier than he was.

I can't believe we have players like Walker, King and Nicholson and we start a game with Juanma and Reilly on the wings Wiggo What is he seeing that no one else is?

Choose between Sow and Juanma (clearly Sow) player our best wingers and cut this fucking shit out.

Aye the tactical overthinking is a big problem. He need to just have a bit of faith in us taking the opposition on. Aberdeen just sat in and took their three chances with clinical precision, they didn't create much else (The other 2 sitters were also hearts errors) so why did we try this weird set up to attempt to counter them?

They got coached wrong all week. Approached the game all wrong. He is a first team coach or something, he isn't a main man responsible for making all the decisions.

Quite funny how folk (wrongly) go on about Levein picking the team.

No way would we ever defend that badly if he was.

He makes all the right noises about trusting the players' ability, but his decisions in these games sends out the message that he doesn't. That team was a fucking wiggo from the moment it was exclusively announced by Peetard on Talkhearts. Smug

Patience being sorely tested. We're a fucking football team, not an ongoing tactical experiment.

It's been apparent for months that this constant tinkering isn't working. It was apparent in the Championship when we struggled against Rangers and Hibs teams we were obviously miles better than because we were obsessing over stopping them playing while they just put their strongest side out and had faith in their ability to beat us. Neilson surely must be able to see that it isn't working and his determination to persevere with it can only be attributed either to stubbornness or his having bought into his own hype and become convinced that he's a tactical genius.

To be clear, he's done some very good things since coming in: he instilled a good atmosphere and winning attitude from the outset and obviously has a very good approach to training and general fitness. Having said that his limitations were apparent last year, weren't really punished and he doesn't seem to have learnt from the warning signs everyone could see in our performances against Hibs and Rangers.

Good post.

Maybe he's just happy to have a club to manage.

He's managing the team like Mak teaches his students.

Not giving it "I told you so" but I was a bit hesitant to jump on the whole "BEST YOUNG SCOTTISH MANAGER FUTURE OF SCOTTISH FOOTBALL" bandwagon.  This season was always going to be where he sunk or swam.

It's the exact same problem as the big games last season.  As soon as someone out thinks him he can't make a plan B.  He chucks out a formation and if it doesn't go well we're fucked because he doesn't have a clue what to do.  I'm beginning to wonder if levein is telling him to persist with people who aren't wingers on the wings.  It's fucking scandalous considering our actual wide options.

I'm confident we'll still finish top 4, the players still need time to settle in and even tho Scott was being a massive racist it does seem like there's a huge communicaton problem somewhere.  I just got in from work so just seen the results but reading here it just looks like Aberdeen have exploited our glaringly obvious weakness.

Sounds like we've backed a fucking donkey with godisgod as well.

What was the actual ream he put out today?

To be fair to Neilson, I think he at least has the basic coaching badges.
