I don't get gaming. Not looking to hassle those that do or be one of those pricks that wade into a thread to show how anti-topic they are but... what's the appeal?
I'm not talking about FIFA or CoD or any other game that you're actively competing with other real life humans. I'm talking about the one player type games where you drive about doing "missions" that you can't really fail at until you've "completed" it. What's the appeal, where's the challenge? Can you claim to be "good" at these types of games or is purely enjoyable from a story-telling standpoint?

Tbf I'm only playing the game for the Game of Thrones mod; you'd have to be quite a sad sack to sit for hours and hours pretending to be the Duke of Fife in 1453 or whenever.
And Acey, I'm a product of the digital generation, 'the sales' means nothing to me

That's what I was trying to do.
You're telling me there's a mod that makes this game more enjoyable? Thank fuck because I thought it was absolutely shite

Is it not the same as pretending you're Niko or whatever the GTA characters are?
I get the appeal of driving around blowing shit up. But driving to certain points to get told to go somewhere else then driving there to watch a cut scene before driving somewhere else. More of a chore than anything else.

I've not bought a non-FIFA game for over a year, I'm not really the one you want a debate with.
Story-driven games are a bit rubbish, I agree. Games like GTA, Skyrim, Far Cry etc. where you're plonked down in the middle of a world and left to do whatever you want are good, though.

Which specific game(s) are you referring to?
Your criticism seems to be like me saying "I don't get tv / films / books - all you do is look at them with your eyes until they're finished."

Thought the story telling in both Heavy Rain and L.A. Noire was brilliant.
L.A. Noire has been one my favourite games of the last generation of consoles. Created a whole wee world to immerse yourself in and enjoy. That's games at their best for me. Pure escapism.
Konami still haven't figured out that 'Top Menu' is a stupid name for the main menu, or that the sprint function might be more appropriately mapped to the right trigger.

Been waiting for Pro Ev to reclaim the crown from FIFA since about PES6.
