Was just watching this as after Paille died I came across a Scotsman article about the game with the Youtube link, what a game.

McCann. Absolute SEENS how good he was. VanGaals Bitch

Less than 2 minutes extra time in a game of 7 goals. Woy Not Sure

Goram's saves to win it for them (IMO). Fat Cunt

The strip. VanGaals Bitch

No two ways about it, we were fucking robbed that day.  The amount of chances we created we should have won and as you say, Goram kept them in it (Cameron's one on one sitter at the start of the second half was a bad one).

The pandemonium when Robbo equalised was absolutely incredible.  I was nine years old and I thought it was the best thing I'd ever been a part of when that goal went in.  We were well on top then and they were rattled big time.

Then Bjourklund assaulted Robbo on the touchline and Gazza rattles one in second later.  Right in front of the Hearts dugout too to add more insult to it all.  The moment you realise as a kid this isn't a level playing field.

And yet we kept on going even after going two goals down again.  It's pretty much bang on 90mins when Weir scores our third and we're in the ascendancy.  Four second half goals and only less than two fucking minutes of stoppage time?  Monty Ha

Still pisses me off more than 20 years later Woy   Get To Woy

McCann was unreal that game. One of the best performances I've ever seen anyone do in a Hearts shirt.

the hun doubled up on McCann half way through the first half, and had three on him at the start of the second. Fabulous performance, maybe his best-ever game.

I was behind the goals that day and I remember McCann absolutely rinsing them down to our right hand side. Nice to see that footage again.

Think I left that day conceding I'd never see Hearts win a trophy. Fucking cunts robbed us.

Fuck knows how boys coped with '86. The disappointment after that league cup final was brutal. Can't imagine what a season long hope then disappointment must've been like.

Sob

Agreed.

How was it, VS? Must have been a struggle, especially when you were in your 40s.

I was the complete opposite, gutted to lose but felt that we gone from being hosed 5-1(lol #nltf) to narrowly losing yet competing with rangers 6 months later, easy to say now but it felt like we were starting to see a decent team come together and it felt like it was only a matter of time before we won a trophy

I was disappointed but pretty pleased with how came back in to the game. McCann really blew me away. Especially against such a strong Rangers side. Laudrup and Gazza were different level players.

I was the same when I watched the game again with a really bad hangover on the Monday afternoon. All the pain of the day before started to disappear as I felt that we were starting to look like a team who could challenge the big boys, McCann was unplayable that day and I felt that if he could keep that form going and we could keep him, then we'd be winning things soon.

Granted in my hungover state, I thought we'd be winning titles soon, but if you'd offered me three Scottish Cup wins in less than 15 years that afternoon, I'd have bit your hand off at the elbow.
