The Herald article cited above chucks in an implication that Hearts were just as responsible for coin throwing by drawing our attention to Broonie picking up an 'object' (bit of a sinister word is it no) and giving it to the match ref. So while video footage contained therein undoubtedly places a coin thrown from behind BZ, the Herald has balanced (see deflection in dictionary) the piece with well, well with fuck all that could have come from anywhere.   Monty Ha

Wee steps, I guess, though inevitably it'll be one forward and two back with that shower!

E: and of course the sectarian stuff is general and within Tynecastle. Again, implication in that scenario through word association to anybody other than Hearts fans is : the Herts wee Bigot Brothers.

It's cleverly written. Fat Cunt

You won't be surprised when they turn it around to all being our fault and letting Celtic off with a finger wagging at best.

Fair play to Spiers and English. Far better for people like that to be doing it than people connected to the clubs.

Good.  Least they're calling them out as opposed to letting non-attenders try and work out who it was (mainly).

Might be worth a watch.

Strict liability seems like the obvious way forward although we would be struggling for a bit Monty Oh Well

John Swinney basically admitted last night on The Debate that the clubs have no interest in even attempting to tackle the problem. In fairness to Budge, despite how much we rip her for it, I think she has shown leadership by being willing to criticise her own support. Lawell etc would never dream of that and panders to the basest elements of their support.

Genuinely had someone in work say yesterday, and he was not joking and not being ironic, "we just are a better class of club... if you set aside the child abuse" Crowe

Why are clubs saying the Govt need to do more?

Every club has the surveillance equipment, as do the police. It would be very easy to pinpoint those signing these songs.

The thing with Celtic is they just have no fucking concept of what they're doing is wrong.  Tell them singing about the IRA is bad and you'll have some wee weegie halfwit try to piece together Irish history that he's heard from his pals in the pub.

It's not even that, the whole Palestine shite should be shut down too.  Abusing Israeli fans coming over to watch their team Warnock You could probably count on one hand the number of Celtic fans in that video who could point to Israel on a map.

No big hitters in football want to truly tackle it because a) they are sitting tapping their foot to the songs and b) they know it would be a big threat to their kooshty wee number.

It is up to the government to intervene here. If you can stamp this out of football you are improving Scotland, it is ingrained in the culture. The only way daft cunts are going to stop is when they see their team punished on the pitch, it might take a decade or two but so be it. It has been getting noticeably worse over the past few years.

Tbf I spoke earlier about how I wanted to see the govt tackle this however I suppose I was more referring to the way in which this is policed.

As you say there's surveillance everywhere and when it “gets a bit rowdy” the coppers come and stand with the cameras pointed at the crowd. Wtf is the point in taking all this surveillance to do nothing? Start picking folk out 5/10 at a time every match. Obviously the police can't march in and arrest 3000 but don't see why they can't arrest people as they leave the ground or whatever.

And if they genuinely say they can't do anything because everyone will kick off then that is a serious security risk that needs addressed. Cut their numbers :jjyay;

What do the Govt do though? I don't get this approach at all. Introduce tougher legislation? Fucking pointless when the clubs/police are doing nothing with the current legislation anyway.

This is down to the police and clubs to work together and start banning people from grounds.

They can bring in strict liability. Clubs have no intention of doing it and will be hoping this latest stuff goes away until the next time. Really feel like that is the only way forward.

It is being looked at
